ROLLERSKI WORLD CUP 2004 FINALS HELD ON THE ITALIAN APPENNINO MODENESE
Next mid-september, Fanano and Sestola will be the cities
hosting the last stage of the Rollerski World Cup, the summer discipline of the great
nordic ski champions. Several changes introduced right after the overview made by FIS
Technical Delegates.

Once again the Appennino modenese (Appennine nearby Modena) protagonist in nordic sports.
After the Italian crosscountry ski Championships in Frassinoro Piandelagotti last
February, other two resorts are now ready to host the elite "nordic" people, now
aligned in skiroll. From the 17th to the 19th of September the Fanano and Sestola asphalt
roads will be theatre of the conclusive stage of Rollerski World Cup with a three days
contest, offering great performance and also some interesting innvovative formula in the
competitions.
DAY ONE,
Lets start Friday 17th with the first world-wide stage in "double
pursuit": the F.I.S. Technical Delegates during the recent inspection of the tracks,
have accepted the proposal of the Organizing Committee to open the competitive program
with a pursuit race, wide adopted formula in the winter World Cup, on snow. Starting from
Vesale village, the athletes will face 5,8 kilometers slope in classic technique, than the
equipment change placed in Sestola main square at a 1.020mt altitude; the race will
continue in free technique till the finish line, after 4 kilometers, at Pian del Falco,
which means a total of 9,8 kilometers of contest.
DAY TWO,

Saturday 18th, its the team relay turn, but one way and not in circle as
previously assumed. Again the Organizing Committee proposal is to carry out the fraction
of the first contender in classic technique (from torrent Scotenna, down in the valley, to
the resort of Vesale) for 6,3 kilometers. The second rollerskier will compete in his part
of the race in free technique for 5,7 kilometers until the arrive, located in downtown
Sestola, in Piazza Machiani.
AND DAY THREE
Lots of news also for the Sunday race, on 19th: the Rollissima del
Cimone is an open competition, in free technique for 15 kilometers, at its 3rd
edition that enriches the sport programm on the Appennino Modenese. This race will
conclude FIS Rollerski World Cup 2004. Its the very first time that the rollerski
world circuit choses a , just like nordic ski races.
For this special event the Organizing Committee of Rollerski World Cup 2004 in Fanano and
Sesola, directed by the CUS Bologna, the University sport center club, has approved a
reduction of the track, from 21 kilometers to 15, simply to emphasise the arrive in
Sestola main square. A choice that will allow a better view to all fans of the conclusive
moments of the race.
HEAD QUARTER
The logistic head quarter of the entire event (with the race, jury and press
office) will be placed at Hotel Miramonti in Sestola, where the Italian National Rollerski
Team will be hosted. The Tourist Board Valli del Cimone, partner of CUS Bologna, will
welcome and take care of the accomodation for the national teams coming from all other
countries.
FIS ROLLERSKI WORLD CUP AND WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2004
The FIS Rollerski World Cup 2004 starts on 11th June in Zagreb, Croatia, with the
first stage out of four, will continue two weeks later in Jelenia Gora, Poland. The third
contest of the world-wide circuit will is fixed in Jablonec, in Czech Republic for the
first weekend of July, last shape check before St. Wendel World Championships, that will
assign at the end of August medals in each one of the following competitions: sprint, team
race (patrol), individuals (in classic technique), pursuit (in free technique) and
team-relay.
